Divine Intervention in the US Senate

Ha ha ha, I love this one. Finally, the Americans have learned something from us, Malaysians.

Remember the brouhaha about Nik Aziz, Kelantan MB, praying for the PM to change his mind over oil royalty, failing which he would pray for the destruction of the prime minister and Umno’s future? A Republican, Senator Tom Coburn went to the Senate floor to propose a prayer, “What the American people ought to pray is that somebody can’t make the vote tonight,” he said. “That’s what they ought to pray.” This was in relation to the crucial Senate vote on the contentious US health-care legislation. Everbody naturally assumed the called-for divine intervention was directed towards 92-year-old, wheelchair-bound Senator (D) Robert Byrd.

[Update]
Witch doctor Obama must have had powerful “fu” since the Dems won the vote 60-39.
