EPL: Burnley 1 – Wigan 3

A palliative ward is a place where the doctors send patients to die, and their only job is to make the sick as pain-free as medically possible while they inexorably slide to the grave. Having spent quite some time in a palliative hospital (no, I wasn’t the patient), I know the look of dying people: thin pallid visages, eyes reflecting spirits that are flickering out like a dying candle, movements leaden with all the unhappiness of the world, and hope long lost in their distant pain-free youth.

Burnley looked like that last night.
