If you even have a modicum of interest in baseball, then you should read Moneyball by Michael Lewis. (Any Michael Lewis book is a treat anyway; consider the The Big Short.) Now the movie, which was based on this book, will be out later this month, Brad Pitt (yeah!) playing the main character, Billy Beane, the General Manager of Oakland Athletics. It should be an interesting movie unless Hollywood, following its conventional wisdom, screw the story and insists on putting Billy Beane in a death-defying situation.

Billy Beane was good at what he does (He wasn’t that good though; he never made the World Series) that the owner of Oakland As give him a small part ownership of the franchise.
